London luxury hotel inquiry

Staying with my wife in London for either 3 or 4 nights in September and we have enough credit card points to book anywhere in the city. It seems like there are endless awesome options, so it’s a little paralyzing. What we are weighing heavily:
• lounge with included breakfast, afternoon tea, canapés, drinks, etc.
• walkability to key landmarks
• service, amenities, special unique perks on property
• view
• a room that’s not too cramped (I am 6’5”)

Some we are heavily considering, for reference: Langham, The Mayfair Townhouse, Hotel 41, etc. (but still open to strong firsthand convictions!)

Stayed in Mayfair and it was a great central location, easy walk to everywhere. The Ferrari dealer is nearby and surprisingly there are eating options like Pret and Subway, plus a big M&S Food at the Green Park tube station.

Our tour hotel for the RS Best of London Tour last June was the Washington Mayfair. I thought it was a great location. We only ate breakfast there, so I can’t speak to other meals, but we did have drinks in the lounge a few times. I’m 6’2” and the room was not cramped at all.

a river view at the Savoy would be my "book anywhere" choice.

Shangri-La The Shard
Cheval Three Quays
Covent Garden Hotel

These haven't been mentioned. Full disclosure: I've never paid this much for a hotel and don't expect to. But they look pretty nice.

The Rosewood looks amazing. I’ve been in for drinks and would love to be able to stay there.

Firmdale Hotels always get excellent reviews. They have several in London - Ham Yard, The Haymarket and the aforementioned Covent Garden Hotel amongst others.

A lounge with free breakfast, drinks, afternoon tea, will be hard to find in a Luxury hotel. These are big moneymakers for the hotels and those who can afford to stay there don't mind.

Some of the top hotels in London are:

The Savoy

The Dorchester

The Ritz

The Atheneaum

Claridge's

Browns

We've been fortunate to stay in The Savoy for corporate travel. Having stayed in Mayfair (JW Marriott Grosvenor House), I prefer the location of The Savoy for sightseeing. Before every trip we check the price of The Savoy, hoping for some kind of miracle, because we'd love to stay there again. We also really like the Covent Garden Hotel. It's my preferred afternoon tea because it's laid back and never feels rushed. For a room that's not cramped, look for upgraded options and pay attention to the stated room measurements.

I wasn’t sure if they were wanting drinks and afternoon tea as complimentary extras or just available. There are hotels with lounges where some things are included but you’ll get a better experience if you just pay for what you want.

I used to book travel for an entertainment industry executive - when the Dorchester was a bit too rich, he would stay at Berners, which has been rebranded as The London Edition.

I've stayed in the Rookery in London, but it might be a little too far east for you? It was an absolutely wonderful hotel, full of character and the staff couldn't do enough for us. They have two sister hotels, one of which Hazlitt's might be in a good location for you. The rooms are all individually designed and furnished and vary in size, so you should be able to find something suitable for your height. The common areas are cosy and like being in a sumptuous private house rather than a hotel. While the 'extras' are not free, they are not expensive (there are honesty bars for example) and it's truly a unique experience. Definitely luxury.

Take a look at The Clermont Hotel Charing Cross. It has very comfortable rooms, and a good restaurant, but there are also a lot of wonderful choices for meals, drinks, and afternoon tea nearby.

If it was in my budget I would stay at The Corinthia. It's beautiful and you could get a room with a lovely view. We had dinner there and it nearly broke the bank, but it was very good. :-)

Thsnk you all for the input. I think we are trying to decide between: Mayfair Townhouse, Hotel 41, Langham, and Rosewood.

Milestone sounds amazing but ks sold out during our preferred dates.

If there are some strong convictions out there on those four properties (or a stronger case to consider elsewhere), would truly appreciate the first-hand insight.

Again, booking this on points, so placing a higher value on complimentary perks/amenities/etc. since there’s no way we’d ever be paying what these rooms cost (well into 4 figures/night) out pocket).

Thanks again so much! Always so helpful to hear from folks who have been there/done that.
