Contemplating staying in Little Venice area of London. Is this too far from all the sights. How is the public transport in the area? Would appreciate first hand experiences. TIA
I haven't stayed in Little Venice, but I have been there. I'm a narrowboat enthusiast so its nice to take the boat rides out from the marina there. Little Venice is a pleasant little oasis in London.
Personally, its a little far out for me to stay; its an hours walk from Trafalgar Square for instance. However it is well served by Tube with Warwick Avenue, Royal Oak and Paddington stations, depending on where exactly you are.
Walk up the Regent Canal and where Edgeware Road crosses the canal there is a lovely little French cafe right on the bridge (Cafe Laville). You can keep walking all the way to Regents Park and eventually all the way to Camden Town with its markets, all in an easy hour's walk.
You can stay on a longboat:

Boats are fun. We do skinny, the vikings do length. In Britain they are referred to as narrowboats.
Very residential on not as close to the major attractions as many people prefer, but there is a tube stop there. When I visited there in November it seemed quiet and there were a number of restaurants in the area. Seeing it doesn’t take a very long time.
We went to Little Venice on our last trip to London. We had a lovely lunch and took a boat trip. It's a nice area, but for me it would be a bit far out to travel to the other places I'd like to see. If you have been to London many times and are just looking for a different experience it could be a good choice.
It is residential and lovely. You will enjoy non touristy pubs, parks, canal walks, churches, cafes etc.
25 minutes viaJubilee and Bakerloo lines to Westminster station at Parliament Square, a main touristy site.
It’s a mile walk from the Little Venice pier to Portobello Road Market.
15 minute walk to the lovely regents park.
Use google maps satellite view to see what’s close to where you might be staying. Where’s the underground station? ATM? Pub? Cafe? etc.
All depends on how you want to experience London.
Great city. Enjoy.
Thank you all for your responses. We have been to London twice and are looking to stay 9 days this time. We will be visiting the sights but also want to have some down time in a quiet area so I think this is probably the area for us. I have researched the area now and found the tube stations, supermarket, pubs etc..
We found what looks like a nice apartment with outdoor space with lots of great reviews so we are going for it.
Glad you are going for it.
Now knowing you’ve been to London previously I think you will enjoy being in a neighborhood setting. Will be more tranquil and offer a change of pace.
Cheers
If your goal is to live like a temporary resident of London, there are few places I could think of better. Enjoy!
