London in June

Would appreciate some help/advice. We will be flying from Greece to London on June 11 for six days. What can I expect for weather? Were packing shorts and t-shirts for Greece plus a suit and formal dress for the wedding were attending. Is the weather cooler in mid June in London? Do we need long pants and long sleeves? Also recommendations for where to stay in the Covent Garden area? Appreciate any help you may have.

It's certainly not going to be as warm as Greece, and I would definitely pack long trousers and some long sleeve shirts as well a jumper just in case. Weather should be fine (mainly lows 20s) but it can be quite variable.

I know it's still a month out, but this week we've had cold, rain and hail, while last week was sunny and warm. Next week is forecast to be 27 degrees...

On hotel recommendations, what's your budget range?

You will need long pants and long sleeves. It’s not reliably as warm as low 20s in June and it’s rare not to need long sleeves for the evening at any time of year. It can be hot but that’s not usual.

That's quite a difference from the mid 80's in Greece. It's like packing for two entirely different trips!! I would like to be in the $250 - $300 a night range for accomodations. I appreciate the help.

Unfortunately weather is always hard to predict and with climate change it has become harder. My Mum and I were in England in June a few years back and it was really hot and back then many hotels didn't have a/c. Be sure whatever hotel you get has a/c. Skirts and dresses with a sweater would probably give you lots of options.

So I'm not longer in shock over temps in the 20's. Celsius vs Fahrenheit! Took me a minute or two. LOL

I'll just say that right now it is very cold for May (high of 13C / 55F) to the point I am having to resist switching the heating on. In the evening it is currently down to 5C / 41F. It can be warm in June but definitely prepare for it to possibly be chilly. The forecast for the end of next week is 26C / 79F but it's hard to say if that will last.

Then there’s the potential for rain. I just did a quick Online search, which indicates that while June is statistically one of the drier months in London, it is still London, so rain could be anticipated 1 day out of 3, and the entire month could get 1 1/2 to 3 inches of rain over those days. If you don’t already have a rain jacket of some type for Greece, one for London might be desirable, for at least 2 of your days there.

Not very helpful for you but it really is impossible to say what the weather will be like in mid June, other than to say it won’t snow (although based on this morning’s weather it might hail!)

Regarding rain, it is very unlikely that you will have days that are totally wet. It tends to be showery so just have a jacket that you are happy to throw on and off and you should be fine.

What clothes you should bring does slightly depend on the type of weather you are use to. A likely temperature in the low 20s will feel different if you live in an area with much higher temperatures.
Also just because there might be blue skies and sunshine don’t assume it is warm. I remember being on a course with someone from Trinidad who stepped out into the sunshine and said in confusion “ it’s like you have air con outside!”
