We will be in London for four nights this September. We are wondering about any hotels with views of the city lights, bridge lights, lighted buildings, etc. Middle of the road price ranges. Thank you for suggestions....Rob
London is mainly flat so you generally have to be on a high floor to get a view. Sea Containers on the South Bank has rooms with a good view across the Thames.
I like Locke at Broken Wharf. I'll get rooms with river views. My views have been of the Thames, Southwark and Millennium Bridge south and the other areas of London in the westerly direction. https://www.lockeliving.com/en/london/locke-at-broken-wharf
We really enjoyed our stay at Locke Broken Wharf last September. We had a River View Suite which is on the top floor, with a view of Millennium Bridge and the Thames to the west, but this floor is set back a bit so the roof of the lower floor partially blocks the view. So next time we would probably go for the River View Studio even though it is smaller. We enjoyed seeing not only the city lights but all the church steeples, using a diagram of the skyline to identify them.
You can get “member rates” with 10% off by joining their Locke Living club (free).
I have long wanted to try the Sea Containers Hotel, with full-on views north across the river. But to get that river view one must book a Deluxe room, which is £451 in September for the nights I checked. A superior room with city view would be £310. Those are the flexible rates. Prepaid and non-refundable rooms are lower, but I would not advise that.
London's not a very high rise city, and you'd have to stay down on the river to get a view of the lights, etc. Sorry, but we usually stay where 4 floors is about the highest--on the north end of Hyde Park.
Thank you so much. I had not thought of London as being so flat and the view constrictions. We will check out the hotels. Again thank you so much....Rob
