There must be hundreds of hotels reasonably close to the central theatre district. What is your price range in GB pounds per night? Are you looking for a single room?
The Premier Inns generally offer good value, but the locations that would be optimal for you are among the most expensive in the city. Both the Underground stations in the area and the sidewalks themselves can be really crowded. Plenty of folks really like that central area of the city, but I wouldn't want to stay there unless I was on a really short trip.
This web page has useful information about Underground stations convenient for theatre-goers, but note that not all the theatres are in one area.

Single accommodations, looking for something under 150£. I’ve usually stayed in the Victoria station area. Don’t mind cabbing it if necessary.

You may be able, to,hit that price point with a Premier Inn, but probably not the,Covent Garden location. Days of the week matter. Saturday night is usually a lot more expensive than other nights.
