London Hotels

I have emailed several hotels listed in Rick Steve's Pocket London guide for a first-ever visit to London, but have received no responses, except for one "we're booked" reply. Is this normal? Do I need to call them instead? Thanks.

You can either call them, or go on line and book a hotel on line. Hotels have the on line system to book hotel rooms so that they don't have to use the man power to email back every customer. Once you book the hotel room on line, they will send you a confirmation that you are booked. If you just want to know the prices and if they are available, then still review the on line system but don't put in your credit card information.

I think it's all online these days. I always use www.booking.com and have never had any issues. Their hotel scores are very reliable assuming the hotel has a good amount of reviewers, in the hundreds for example. Look for a score at least in the high 8's. Good luck.

I think it's pretty common for hotels not to reply to email if they're booked.
