London hotel with great soundproofing

I have the Rick Steves London guidebook and have been looking at the hotel choices. Has anyone been particularly impressed with the interior soundproofing at any of these hotels? I know there's always the chance of someone being loud in the hall that you might hear, but I'm trying to avoid hearing voices and TV through the walls, etc.

I have stayed at The Z Hotel Soho in London a couple of times. Great location 5 minute walk from the Leicester Square tube station and Traflagar Square. The good news is, the rooms are very soundproof to other rooms. The bad news us, the size of the rooms are equivalent to a walk in closet ! If you don't believe me, check out the link. LOL.

But perfect for me, as I only needed it for sleeping, and was by myself. They also had a very nice FREE included happy hour daily, featuring good wines, cheese, chocolate and ice cream! Saved a lot of money on food, as London is very expensive for restaurants. Cost was also a factor, and they were among the cheapest in that west end area. have a great trip

Yes, I'm familiar with earplugs, but they don't block out everything (neither does fan noise). Since there are countless choices in London it doesn't seem unreasonable to want to start with a hotel that has good soundproofing, as some do.

I’ve stayed at the Nadler Kensington at least half a dozen times and I don’t ever recall hearing noise from tvs or voices in neighboring rooms. To be fair, I go to the theatre almost every night that I am in London and usually don’t get back to the hotel until after 11 pm, so it could be that everyone in the neighboring rooms is always asleep.

I practically live at the Nadler Kensington--just left yesterday. Depending on which room you get it might be very quiet or you could hear outside noise or hallway noise. I've never heard any noise from adjacent rooms.

Two hotels I have stayed in that are virtually soundproof are the Premier Inn St. Pancras and the Staybridge Suites Stratford.

There is a new Residence Inn Kensington that is one of the loudest, noisiest hotels I have ever stayed in. And that is the least of their problems.

Although they do tout the double glazing in their windows, I was still surprised at how very quiet our room was at the St Pancras Premier Inn. We had a room overlooking Euston Rd and we heard Zeo noise in the room.

I have stayed twice at hub by Premier Inn Westminster St James’s Park and once at hub Westminster Abbey and never heard noise from the adjacent rooms. You don’t have to worry much about street noise because the standard rooms don’t have a window. Like the Z hotels mentioned above, these rooms are TINY (but centrally located, en suite, and well fitted to make efficient use of space).

I stayed at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge last week and heard no noise (internal or external) at all.

I had a very quiet stay at Baileys Hotel in Kensington, on Gloucester Rd and just across the street from the tube station. It's a 19th century townhouse and the rooms are lovely, impeccable service.

In the era of online hotel reviews, most hotel owners an general managers know that noise levels can mean the difference between a five star review and a three star review, and are more than willing to work with a guest on that with appropriate lead time.

Pretty much every online hotel reservation I've seen has a special requests or comments box when you make the reservation, and a carefully worded and polite request along the lines of 'a quiet room along the back side of the property and away from the elevators would be very much appreciated!' has typically worked well for me. And then more positive reinforcement of that idea on check-in.

Granted it doesn't always work as planned- I'm thinking of the place in Wales where the back side of the hotel was an otherwise lovely nature area with a pond that turned out to be home to what sounded like 2,000 honking geese. But cheerfully and politely proactive has gotten us quietly good results probably 90%+ of the time.
