Hotel help pls! 1st fam,4 adults trip to London. I’ve spent embarrassing time searching & learning hotels. Driving myself crazy bec I really want as central as possible in a city so vast with no perfect loca- which is great but hard to pick our perfect loca! Finally narrowed down to:
Royal Horseguards, Henrietta hotel, Coventry garden hotel, Page 8; Leonardo Royal tower bridge; And he Stafford. Reviews r all Over. Details&price will force my hand as we’re going end of July but a last minute let’s go after all the cancellations plus got good airfare with Virgin.

I really like the location of the Royal Horseguards Hotel. Very nice for walking to Westminster Abbey, St.,James Park, the London Eye and more. And all forms of transport—-Tube, train, Thames boat, are very close.

For location, I’d stay in the Covent Garden Hotel or Page 8. You can’t go wrong with a very central West End stay. So much in walking distance, easy access to the theatres and restaurants. That would be my preferred location based on what I want to do in London - theatre, restaurants, probably see an exhibition. You can easily get anywhere you want from there.

I should explain what I like about the Horseguards Hotel location. We have spent a lot of time in London, with stays ranging from a few days to a week and once for 3 weeks. And our favorite way to get around is by walking, possibly combined with the bus. I do not like the Tube and avoid it as much as possible.

Here is a nice map of the useful bus routes:

We generally pick one museum, church, or other attraction to see each day, and walk there. Our usual route involves the Thames pedestrian path along the river. I never tire of the views. We have walked as far as Greenwich to the east and as far upriver as Chelsea. For long walks like these we take a Thames boat back.

For crossing the river to reach our goal, we use Tower Bridge or one of the pedestrian-only bridges—Millennium Bridge near St.Paul’s, or the Golden Jubilee bridges near Whitehall and Westminster Abbey. The Horseguards Hotel is right close to the north bank end of the latter bridge, so would be for us an ideal location.

But in fact we have never stayed there—-we book an apartment for our London time, often near Tower Bridge, or a hotel near Paddington if staying only a night or two. For the Paddington location, our walking route takes us through Hyde Park, Green Park and St. James Park to reach the Horseguards area.

Thank you for the feedback. We’ve never flown VA usually delta but i keep hearing good things.
As far as hotel- location is the magic word for this trip. I may never be back so want to walk out the hotel and feel London! I’m determined to sleep little but also not over schedule and just absorb the vibe and culture etc. 🇬🇧
