London hotel area

I am traveling from Newcastle to London by train late August into King's Cross Station, spending 3 nights in London before departing at Heathrow. I'll have a large suitcase and carry on with me. Which area of the city do you suggest I stay? Best way to get to Heathrow? Travel tips and suggestions for my visit greatly appreciated!

Take a look at Bloomsbury - it's very close to Kings Cross, so could be a short walk or taxi ride on arrival. It's a nice leafy neighbourhood, home of the British Museum and large parts of the university. Lots of garden squares and Georgian/Victorian terraces. Not far from Covent Garden and London's Theatreland. Lots of bus routes. Lots of hotels at all prices ranges.

When it's time to leave for Heathrow simple take the Piccadilly Line tube - step-free from Kings Cross or pick it up at Russell Square in the heart of Bloomsbury. No changes needed. Direct to the airport in an hour.

I usually stay near the Kings Cross station. There are a bunch of small hotels and B&B on Argyle St, just a block or 2 from the station. Check out the Jesmond Dene (I've stayed there several times).
This location is ideal for lots of transportation around London and I usually walk to the British Museum from the hotel.
To get to Heathrow I take the metro to Paddington Station and take the train from there to the airport.

From Kings Cross to Paddington I take the bus, which takes ca 30 mins to Paddington, where I take the Heathrow Express. I suggest staying in the B&Bs and small hotels in the Kings Cross area, super convenient with the buses and the 3 Tube lines stopping at Kings Cross. Kings Cross is the area I stay, the Alhambra Hotel has been one of those hotels.

Thank you for your suggestions! Someone also mentioned Earl's Court area. Which is better: King's Cross or Earl's Court? Thanks again!
