London Hotel

Hi,

Has anyone stayed at the Premier Inn London Victoria Eccleston Square? It seems most posters recommend the County Hall Premier Inn .

I’m a first time visitor to London this fall. I plan to stay in London the entire trip, visiting museums, parks, shopping and eating. I’ll be in London about 2 weeks. I am also interested in any recommendations for walking and food tours in London.

Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!

Check the London Walks website. www.walks.com

I’ve taken many. Always well done and informative.

Haven’t stayed at that PI but wouldn’t hesitate to do so. I like Premier Inns cuz u know what you are getting. Pricing is good.

London is a fabulous city to experience and explore. Be sure to visit surrounding neighborhoods; Highgate, Camden, Hackney, Putney, Brixton, Ealing, Canary Whatf etc. Lots of lovely street markets, parks, shops, restaurants, historical buildings, modern skyscrapers, etc.

If a walker the Thames River Path/Queens Walk is a great way to see various neighborhoods.

If into seeing a brilliant conversion from a power station to a shopping center don’t miss the Battersea complex.

I would not have a problem with staying in that location, if I was looking for something in London. The County Hall location works, but so do lots of others, Holborn, Euston, etc. ........

You’re welcome. Love London and love sharing things to do and see, where to explore, etc.

If going in November make time to watch the set up for the Lords Mayor parade. Horses hoof’s being painted, musical instruments being tuned, performers being wrangled into position, et al.
Have never watched the parade I just like the set up. If you like parades dang sure this one would be of interest.

Fall in the parks is lovely. Richmond park with the fallow deer is quite lovely in the Fall.

London can be exhausting so pace yourself. IMHO best experienced on foot but I love a good tube journey and a neighborhood not often the focus of tourists….somewhere like Hackney …

Have a wonderful first time visit!

For a first time visitor, I think the Premier Inn Leicester Square and the hub by Premier Inn Covent Garden are better locations. They are in the middle of everything. Open Google Maps, put a pin on these two locations, and then put a pin on the places you want to visit, and you’ll see what I mean. I stayed in the Covent Garden one in 2024 and liked that I could just pop into the National Gallery at any time as it’s two minutes away. I walked everywhere.

Hi Mel, I would stay at any of the Premier Inns, and the Victoria station is a very good location. I think most members here recommend the County Hall location because it's newer and bigger and it's in a good location. Plus, it sits right on the water. But honestly, you can't go wrong at any Premier Inn. They're consistently clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced.

The Victoria Station PI location is convenient, though, as you have access to both the Victoria, Circle and District lines there. There is the Victoria Tube Station, which is relatively new, plus the regular Victoria Station where you can get trains and also have access to the tube station. And you also have the Victoria coach station, which is nearby for buses.

There are also a lot of restaurants and sightseeing destinations in the neighborhood as well. The Victoria Station Premier Inn is a little bit older than the County Hall location, but It's still a good location. I stayed in that location last year, although it was at a different hotel as I had two grandkids with me, but I loved that area for convenience.

Thank you Claudia, Marco, Katy, and Mardee!

I’ll be going late September-early October. I’m hoping to see the Renoir exhibition before I leave.

Have you visited any used bookstores, thrift stores or other unique shops you would recommend? Do you have a favorite theater, supermarket, deli, tea house?

I will be reading trip reports as well. I may be asking too many questions!

Mardee, that is so wonderful you went with your grandchildren. I hope to someday.😊

Given where you are staying either Sainsburys or Tesco markets are fine.

Maybe our London cohorts can advise which is cheaper.

I like traveling to Barnes and going to Orange Peoke for tea.

I enjoy pub grub and will say The Dove in Hammersmith has some of the best.

My deli is Mari’s Deli and dining. Then I walk along the Thames path.

I always return to Putney Bridge for a true English breakfast at the River Cafe. Then I puruse Hurlingham Books. Musty, dusty and perfect.
Afterwards depending on where my next stop is I’ll stroll along the Thames path or board the tube.

Favorite theatre for films: the Prince Charles
Favorite theatre for stage productions. Any of them. I always get an aisle seat in the 3rd or 4th row of the 1st balcony as I like seeing the entire stage. I’ll always check the schedules for The Richmond Theatre and The Globe.
