Two years ago I stayed at the Radison Blu Mercer Street in the Seven Dials area. I joined the Radison rewards program which gave me some offers that brought my rate down to $210 a night.

Ten minutes' walk from Seven Dials is Hub Covent Garden, which is on St Martin's Lane rather than in Covent Garden itself. Hub is a micro-hotel offering of Premier Inn, so do look at their website to see if Hub's room size, style, amenities (or lack thereof!) would work for you. I stay there often.
