We're a family of four flying from California to London (United Airlines) to Hamburg (Eurowings). United and Eurowings are both in Terminal 2. We will have only carry on bags. Does anyone have experience connecting between these two airlines and how long that would take? Thanks.
Go to this website, fill in your flight and day information, and it will give you step by step instructions.

But basically, it's simple. Follow the Flight Connections signs. (Don't go to passport control as you don't have to do that.) You will be led to airport security. You will go through that. Then you go to your gate.
Heathrow suggests a one hour connection time.
More important, is this on one ticket or two separate ones?

To answer your question of 'how long', UAL says not more than 1hr 50 min. Don't plan on a lot of free time. I wold be inclined to use the airplane restroom as close to landing as possible, so I didn't need to detour on the trip between flights.
Thanks for your comments. Our United/Eurowings flights are on one ticket.
You'll be fine. Make sure you have at least one hour but more is better. If you should miss your connection, the airline is obligated to get you on the next available flight. No cost to you and you may even get compensation.
More importantly, Eurowings carry on bag policy is different than United's. Make sure you meet Eurowings policy or you may have to check your bag at the gate.
