Looking for HEALTHY restaurants with fresh and light options near Westminster. We are staying at the St. Ermin's on Caxton St.
Well, it's not totally near your hotel but I like Le Pain Quotidien on Wilton Rd along the side of Victoria Station.

Salads with a variety of vegetables (not heavy salads). Not interested in heavy meats, sauces, etc. We are not vegetarian but vegetarian food is delicious! Just looking for things that are not prepared with alot of oil and sauces. Pub food is generally not what we gravitate toward. Think California fresh!! Mid priced would be welcomed, although if it's spectacular would consider fine dining. Hope that helps!
Pam, that menu is spot on!! That is an international chain, isn't it? I believe we have eaten at one of those restaurants before. Seems like a breakfast and lunch spot? We are meeting friends for dinner. LOVE this menu though!
No idea if any locations are near you, but are you familiar with Ottolenghi?

These are everywhere in London, but more casual:

I too would suggest Ottolenghi. They do wonderful Mediterranean food with lots of vegetable choices. Only one real restaurant, named Nopi. The others are more casual talk-out spots, with limited seating.

I also suggested Pret a Manger for good fresh and healthy salads, but deleted the post when I saw you are looking for a dinner spot.
I had dinner last September at the branch of Le Pain Quotidien located very near the Notting Hill Gate tube station. There are some hot dishes on the menu. I suppose the hours of the individual branches may vary.
The Ottolenghi nearest where you are staying (Belgravia) is basically for takeaway, but the one at Spitalfields is a real restaurant with plenty of seating and they take reservations.

Yep, Le Pain Quotidien is a chain and the menu varies from location to location. I do eat dinner here as do many others but it may be more casual than you want if you are meeting friends. It is more restaurant-y than Pret.
I actually try to eat here on my first day in London. It gets me to put some greens and beans in my system after the long haul thru airports and across time zones from North Idaho to London.
Not a fan of their beetroot hummus though....
California fresh. Hysterical. I’m a CA native born when Truman was in office. The concept of healthy eating didn’t evolve in this state. Neither did vegan or vegetarian diets.
As far as not finding something healthy in pubs you’ve obviously think you’ll find nothing but burgers, meat pies and fish and chips. NOT the case.
Many pubs are now Gastropub pubs so take a look at their menus. Might not be eatca in SF or Crossroads Kitchen in LA but not In and Out burger dominate either.
Many thanks to all!
Le Pain Quotidien is a chain sandwich/bakery/restaurant shop located all over Manhattan and whose headquarters are here in NYC located downtown on Broad Street.
Is a New York city chain restaurant really what you want as a visitor to London??
Le Pain Quotidien is originally Belgian, even if it later spread to the USA.
Started in Brussels & HQ'd in Manhattan with stores all over the place here. Interesting how the business owner didn't want its world HQ to be in Belgium. The communal table arrangement is pleasant especially when you're traveling on your own.
