Hello, I'm new to the forum. I'm going to London in April 2025 and will spend three days in Harrogate. We want to go to Pately Bridge to see the town and churchyard with old gravestones but will stay in Harrogate. I'm not sure the best / fastest train to get from London to Harrogate. Also any recommendations for nice, comfortable hotels? Four (2 adults, 2 teens). Advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
LNER run trains every two hours at 33 minutes past every odd hour direct from London Kings Cross to Harrogate, Monday to Friday only. If the times of those trains don't work for you then LNER to Leeds, change to a Northern service every half hour to Harrogate.
Bus #24 runs every 2 hours from Harrogate to Pateley Bridge.
On Summer Sundays Bus 821 runs from York to Pateley Bridge- this year from Easter to 20 October.
For Hotels I guess we need to know your budget.
If at least one of the teens will be less than 16 when you travel a Family and Friends Railcard will save you money.
If they are both older than their 16th birthday get two x Two Together Railcards
Harrogate is a big conference town, so there will be plenty of hotels but you need to book well in advance. Personally I always recommend the Premier Inn - not exactly "quaint" but a very reliable and comfortable chain.
