London Eye - what is the best time of day to visit in Late April?

We will be in London in late April and want to do the London Eye. I read somewhere that mornings and evenings are the best time to avoid the large crowds. I have also read that London can be foggy in the morning w/ limited visibility. We obviously want good visibility. Can anyone recommend the best time of day to visit in late April?

Thank you.

I don’t know where you read that but it hasn’t been the case since the early 50s and that was smog not fog, cured by the Clean Air Acts.

However you might want to see what the weather is like on the day as low cloud or rain would make for a suboptimal viewing experience.

I'd decide on the day, for the reasons above, or at most the evening before.

I agree that visibility conditions are best determined as close to the day as possible but wanted to add that when I went on the Eye with a visiting friend, she had the brilliant idea to time it so we’d be on it during sunset. It was glorious. If you happen to be going over a weekend, it’s open late enough to make that timing work - just check your weather app to see the time of sunset for the day you plan to go.

Just don't forget Easter and the associated holidays are in late April this year.

Both times that I have done the London Eye, I have gone in the evening and done the champagne experience. You get a glass while aboard to sip as you look at the view. Best way to do it IMO.

Sunset is a good time to go as even on cloudy days, once the sun starts to go down there's often a brief period where it's below the cloud and the visibility is very good.
