London Eye ticket confusion

The basic ticket for 18 GBP allows me to reserve and day and time to ride the Eye. So what's the big deal about the Flexi pass or any of the premium tickets? Am I missing something? Is it just the flexibility of the other tickets that seem like a big deal? Also, if I purchase an advance internet ticket and reserve my day and time, there's no queue standing for me, correct?

I don't know the details about the tickets but, consistent with the advice you're getting re your other post, you might want flexibility for weather with an outdoor site like the Eye. I went up in a drizzle, it was fine, but I'd have seen more in sunshine (which is notoriously unpredictable in the UK!). My point-and-shoot pictures feature well-focused raindrops on the windows and fuzzier images of the Houses of Parliament etc. -- sort of like Monet's painting but without the talent! :-)

Dick,
"sort of like Monet's painting but without the talent! :-)"

One day consider opening your own still-photo gallery with those "Monet-type" stills. ;-)

You'll still wait in line because there are about 20 people per car and a whole wheel of cars to fill for that time period. People will jostle for position within the car, wanting the one bench seat or the front windows where the best views are. The flexi pass let's you go when you're ready, in case your schedule changes or you run late (or early). There are also expensive tickets that let you reserve a private car.

mikey,

i can only speak for the day/time i choose and this was a couple years ago in a mid march.

I had no line for the car. there were about a total of 6 or so. The weather was overcast/cloudy so that could have been the reason why we werent Standing Room Only, but it was clear enough to see out over London.

There was a long ticket line that stretched back into the area where the support structure for the london eye is located. You can see it on google maps if you choose to.

just so you know, you go cattle car you into a quick movie/propaganda show about the London eye and have you stand in front of a green screen to take a picture for later. There is also a large camera on your way down and you can get your picture taken there too. The movie was sort of cool and the green screen was interesting. If i would have know about the green screen i would have worn something green.

happy trails.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Looks like I'm wearing green when I ride it.
