London Eye

Can someone please help me understand the ticket choices. If we decide to do this while in London in June we will buy the tickets online before going. I understand there are two types to get, the standard ticket and the fast track but both talk choosing a time so I don't quite understand the difference. Does this mean that you will actually get onto one of the pods at the time you chose when you buy the ticket? If you print the ticket at home do you still have to stand in line for any time? Can you show the ticket from your phone?

One more question, are the benches or chairs around that area? I ask so that if we do have to stand in line, my mom might have a place to sit while we wait.

There's no seating nearby, There are walls and concrete pillars to sit on but I doubt your mum would be comfortable with that. If you go on Google maps, search for the London Eye on satellite view and drag the little yellow man in the bottom right hand corner and place it over the London Eye you will get a ground level 360° view so that you can see what is in the surrounding area.

I can't speak for tickets and times as I've never been on it, it's not something that appeals to me.

Do the fast track, then your mum won't have to worry about sitting, just roll up around your boarding time and you're straight on. Queues in June will be insane. I know the Eye is an iconic thing to do... But consider the FREE Sky Garden... Not quite the same, but a whole lot cheaper, and still great views. Book early for SG.

When I went on it, it was in December and there was no line, so we got the standard ticket and walked right on. During the summer, the lines can get very long, so to avoid a long wait I’d spend the money for the fast track..

We were there in November. We did not pay for fast track but my hubby asked about the disabled discount and they put us in the fast track line with no extra charge. They were very kind and understanding about it. We still had to stand for about 4 minutes but there were places to lean on.
