London during Spring Half Term (February)

Hi,

I am hoping to go to London with my family (husband and 2 kids) in mid-February. We have decided we would opt for the cooler wet weather than the possible really hot summer temps (we would be coming from a gray rainy place so we aren't concerned about weather). But, in my planning I see that spring half term will be happening the week we are there in February (15-19) thus most school kids will be out that week. I am wondering if anyone has been to London during half-term and if things were more crowded and crazy? Any insights/experiences would be greatly appreciated! :) Thanks!

No it won’t make any real difference. Families who live in London will be more likely to be out of town. Maybe some work travel is down because parents are taking time off. Some families will be visiting London and the Natural History museum will be busier. But honestly, you won’t notice anything much. London is a huge city with people visiting all the time for all different reasons.

Well, those museums etc. that appeal to children would be busier than normal at that time of the year, but many families chose to go skiing or to warmer places, so London probably wouldn’t be crazy busy.

I'm usually in London in mid-February and find it quieter than at other times of the year

During the half term you may find special events for kids at museums or elsewhere. The museum websites are a good source to check. Or the Time Out online magazine London edition.
