London during Spring Half Term (February)

No it won’t make any real difference. Families who live in London will be more likely to be out of town. Maybe some work travel is down because parents are taking time off. Some families will be visiting London and the Natural History museum will be busier. But honestly, you won’t notice anything much. London is a huge city with people visiting all the time for all different reasons.

Well, those museums etc. that appeal to children would be busier than normal at that time of the year, but many families chose to go skiing or to warmer places, so London probably wouldn’t be crazy busy.

During the half term you may find special events for kids at museums or elsewhere. The museum websites are a good source to check. Or the Time Out online magazine London edition.

I was there during half term in February ‘25 and the only place I noticed extra kids and families was at the Natural History Museum, I’m not sure I have the name exactly correct, the one with dinosaur skeletons etc. It was crazy busy but nothing else seemed overly crowded.

In many museums the increase in families attending during that week will be offset by the lack of school trips visiting. Overall I doubt that it makes much difference.

February half term will be one of the quieter school holidays. But attractions will be busier with parents taking their kids on days out.
Personally I would book another week if possible, but if you can't it won't be as hectic as one of the summer holidays.

I was in London for the Feb half term in 2023. As others have mentioned, the Natural History museum was slammed, with lines around the block. The S. Kensington tube station was closed for a few minutes, I'm not sure what happened. A lot of museums had special half term break activities for kids. Restaurants were busy - if you want to eat at any particular places, make sure you make reservations ahead of time.

We were surprised with the weather. It was cool but not unpleasantly so - and we had a lovely balmy Sunday which we spent at St James park.

I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference, at least in my experience. London is pretty much always busy! I don't think we have a "low" season.

My experience with half term was in October. The only place that affected us was the Natural History Museum. Kids were running amok, screaming and climbing all over things that they shouldn’t have been touching while the parents looked the other way. After 20 minutes we left. It took until 2 visits later that we were finally able to see the entire museum. We saw kids in other locations as well but it never affected us adversely.

You may get more families with children, but you won't get school trips...
