London Christmas season

Thoughts welcome on must do experiences 12/7-12/11. Family with 2 girls, ages 14 and 6. Also we're looking for a classically decorated, traditional Christmas hotel close to everything, for $200-$250 per night per room. It seems like our best bet is to get 2 rooms. Looking at the May Fair, Rubens at the Palace, and the Grand at Trafalgar Square. Feedback on these or other suggestions very welcome! Thanks!

"traditional Christmas hotel close to everything,"

London is spread out, so no one place/area is close to everything.

I have no idea what a traditional Christmas hotel is so cannot help you there, sorry. I Googled "London hotels decorated for Christmas" and found a number of articles about hotels in London with lovely Christmas decorations (from years past) . Perhaps that would give you some ideas?

There is no one hotel or location in London that is close to everything; London is too big and geographically spread out for that. Embrace public transit to get you where you want to go.

These listings may be helpful to you (from Londonist and Time Out London). See here: http://www.timeout.com/london/christmas

My must-do experience would be a pantomime, and my first choice would be whatever Wilton's Music Hall is doing this year.

Hope you have a good

The "Winter Wonderland" in Hyde Park is basically a temporary Christmas themed fair and fairground. It's not cheap and pretty commmercialised but it's well done and kids love it so probably worth a visit.

Another vote for this. My daughter loved it.
