We're taking a tour to Canterbury, Dover Castle, and the White Cliffs of Dover and thinking of booking a hotel close to where the tour starts near the London Bridge walk. Rick Steves London doesn't mention that neighborhood in his London books. Any ideas or thoughts on lodging in that area?
There isn’t a “London Bridge Walk”. What is the address? Postcode?
A search on the map suggests London Bridge Walk does appear to be the specific name of the stretch of road or path on the bridge itself by London Bridge station.
Is that where you mean, OP?
It’s a decent area - right by Borough Market and Southwark Cathedral. I wouldn’t want to go much south of that, but I had a great stay one year at the Hilton Tower Bridge (actually pretty near London Bridge too) and I liked the location. Tooley Street is bustling and London Bridge station has good transport links.
But I wouldn’t choose my hotel location purely in the basis of where a day trip starts.
If you've booked your tour through Viator, their page says your meet-up place is here:
London Bridge Station (Stop R).
Viator is a "middle-man" company, booking the tour for you with another company.
If you've not already paid, you may wish to look at this tour:

Evan Evans has an excellent reputation here on this forum and is highly rated on Trip Advisor.
Meeting point for THIS tour is:
Victoria Coach Station, 164 Buckingham Palace Road, London.
There's no need to book your hotel based on where either tour picks up.
Choose your hotel in a location convenient to ALL the sightseeing you will do in London.
This is a detailed plan of the bus stops at London Bridge Bus Station, You will see that stop R is at "London Bridge Walk" if you mess around with the scale a bit- https://tfl.gov.uk/bus/stop/490019954L/london-bridge-bus-station
If you are looking for a hotel in that area, use “Southwark” as the location.
There are quite a few—-from the Holiday Inn Express Southwark to the more upscale.Bankside Hotel, Autograph Collection ( a Marriott property) and a Hilton. In between are the Citizen M Bankside and some non-chain hotels such as The Mad Hatter and The Hoxton.
I'm sorry it took so long for me to respond to all of these helpful replies. My life is chaos right now because we have two toddlers staying with us and I'm way behind on my emails. I didn't see this thread until today and I'm happy to say that we found lodging in North London that's just a 30 minute tube ride from a lot of the places we plan to go.
Excellent. Have a great trip to London.
Thanks Rebecca. I haven't paid for a tour yet but I'm leaning toward a tour that includes Dover Castle as opposed to Leeds Castle.
