London bookings through Trip Advisor

I'm looking for our accommodations in London the first part of June and realized that you can book through the Trip Advisor website. I've never booked hotels/apartments through anything but the actual hotel website or homeaway.com. Can anyone pass along their experience booking through Trip Advisor. Since there are 4 of us I'm thinking we will go with an apartment/house since it works better economically and we will probably have it for 5-6 nights or more. I'm looking at one on Air B&B but I've never used their site either. I just need to hear about other's experiences, good or bad.

Also, has anyone ever used a website called visitapartmentslondon.co.uk (the independent traveler)? Reliable? Experiences, good or bad.

We have used booking.com, VRBO.com/Homeaway, AirBnB for vacation rental apartments but never Trip Advisor although friends of mine have. Compare them as to fees and reviews. We paid VRBO a huge unexpected fee last year.

I have used TA rentals twice, but not in London, as I live near there. The experience has been excellent and this site is now my first option when looking for accommodation in Europe. You can ask questions of the accommodation owner before you book. Payment was easy and unlike Airbnb, you don't have to pay the whole amount on the day of booking if your rental is several months away. The apartments rented have been great. I prefer to rent somewhere with plenty of reviews, whatever the website used.

Booking.com would be my second option if I was just wanting 2-5 nights accommodation and HomeAway if I wanted a week or longer, as many of their properties have a 5-7 night minimum rental.

Airbnb would be my last option, as there basic rental price is expensive, then you have to pay their high fees on top. Plus they don't give detailed location information until you have booked. Many properties are listed on more than one website, so it pays to shop around. I have just booked 4 nights in Spain and Airbnb wanted over 25% more for the same apartment than booking.com.

In 2015 I used Trip Adviser to book three apartments in Italy (Venice, Florence and Rome) and could not have been happier with the experience. It was quick, easy and all was delivered as promised.

One thing I noticed why doing my searches was that most of the apartments were advertised on multiple sites. So, which ever portal you use pretty well comes down to which interface you like best. I found the search tools (filters) on Trip Advisor the easiest for me to use.

I have booked two apt rentals in London through trip advisor for March trip. I found the site very easy to use and liked the private inbox to communicate with the apt owner.
Will report on our experience first of April!

I booked a couple hotels through the TA website for my May17 Spain trip. No problems at all.

Thank you everyone! I always like reading the reviews on TA, have even left some myself, but never did this. Now to find the perfect place to stay.
