London: Beatrix Potter and Stonehenge exhibitions

My husband and I are working out details of our trip to London in May. We've booked tickets for the Beatrix Potter exhibition at the V&A and would also like to visit the Stonehenge exhibition at the British Museum. Is there anyone who has attended either of these exhibitions who can provide a rough estimate of how much time we should allocate for each? We want to have enough time to view each exhibition thoroughly. We've visited both museums in a previous visit, so our focus this time would be on the exhibitions themselves. Thank you!

If you can wait until the 27th I can tell you how long it takes me to get through the Beatrix Potter exhibit—I allowed myself 1.5 hours as I have a ticket after that for the Faberge exhibit…it’s going to be a wonderful visit to the V&A! I based the 1.5 hrs on the time it’s taken me to see past exhibits there, Frida Kahlo and Mary Quant.

Thanks, Christa! I'd love to know about your visit. We will be at the V&A on May 20; I assume by the 27th, you mean April. We're not planning on visiting the Faberge exhibit (for now), but I'd be interested in hearing about that as well.

I went to the World of Stonehenge at the British Museum…spent about 1 hour 45 mins there. It’s not so much about Stonehenge itself as it is about placing in context to the Neolithic world.

There’s rather a lot to look at, and I found it very crowded. We were all queuing to read the labels on the display cases and there was no social distancing at all. The exhibits get more spread out towards the end so you’ll move a bit quicker down the back half.

Thank you, Mincepie, for the helpful information. We're planning to have masks on hand for museums and public transport and will certainly take precautions. I am fascinated by the history of ancient Britain and looking forward to this exhibition.

I spent the morning at the V&A—first was Beatrix Potter at 10, and it’s a really well-done exhibit, lots to see and read. This was right when they opened so not crowded and while I move fairly quickly being solo, I spent around 45 minutes, Figure on at least an hour. Then I had Faberge at 11:30 and it was absolutely incredible, so many exquisite things to see and just when you think you have seen it all, the final room is full of the Imperial Easter Eggs, which are just overwhelmingly beautiful. Lunch at the cafe—lots of variety, very tasty offerings.

Thank you, Christa! I’m really excited to see the exhibition. The V&A is one of my favorite places in London.
