London Apartment for one month stay

I am looking for an apartment in London for a month long stay.

It doesn't have to be in the center of town but should be in a "safe" neighborhood. I personally like the SW7 area. A studio or one bedroom, quiet location, good wifi, kitchen., bug free, W/D

I am looking for SPECIFIC apartment recommendations. Instead of telling me "I've had great luck with London Flat Rental," please tell me which specific apartment you liked or didn't like.

Budget up to £2500/month but would prefer to pay less.

Thanks.

Have you checked Air Bnb? That is usually a great place to look for rentals and they give reviews.

Sorry, Frank, I don't have a VRBO to recommend in SW7 (South Kensington). Wish I did. But here are several apartments with which I was very happy, just in case you are unable to find one in SW7. Check out the London School of Economics: http://www.lsevacations.co.uk/

They offer apartments or suites, with a kitchenette and coffee maker, laundry room in the basement, and some locations have a cafeteria on the first floor. Look at their website for more information; they have several locations, all convenient to the tourist sights and museums. Different prices for different locations.

Here are my favorites; Grosvenor House Studios, Northumberland House, Passfield, and The George IV Apartments.

Grosvenor House is located in the Covent Garden/West End area. Easy access to restaurants, the theatre, and transportation:

Passfield has a two bedroom flat:

The George IV Apartments also offer flats:

I have stayed at all of these locations. You will have to call the phone number for each location to check for availability/vacancies on your desired dates. Be aware that the website DOES NOT show true information about availability. If you try to check that online, it always says they are full. Not true. You must phone to check.

Also, they offer student dorm rooms to tourists when students are on break. But that is not what you're after. They all have the apartments and suites on the top 2 floors; that's what you are looking for. Keep looking on their website if you don't see that right away. And make it clear that's what you want if you call their phone number and book.

I was very satisfied with all of these locations. All comfy beds, living room, kitchenette. Price was right.

If you wish to stay south of the Thames, look at the Bankside House, which is near the Globe and Tate Modern. I realize these are not in the SW7 area you asked for, but they are comfortable, affordable, and well located.

Be sure to carefully check out any VRBO listing that is suggested on this or any other travel forum. My check of this particular one suggested by Carl is that it is located in or near Peckham. The train stations that are near the VRBO flat/apt. seem to be Queens Road(Peckham) close by to the west a couple of blocks, and to the east New Cross Gate station. Read about the neighborhood of Peckham here and decide if it appeals to you:

Sorry, Frank, I don't have a VRBO to recommend in SW7 (South Kensington, and some parts of Knightsbridge). If I were using VRBO for my search for a flat, I would consider more neighborhoods that are close-in, walking distance to some landmarks, tourist sights, museums, and parks. The area around the parks are pretty in London. When searching VRBO, consider Regents Park, Swiss Cottage, St. John's Wood, Kensington, South Kensington, Chelsea, Westminster, Holland Park, Notting Hill, Bloomsbury, the City, and going north, Hampstead Village. Southwark is okay, but I want to be a block or two from the Globe or Tate Modern if I'm going to be there.

Now, this is just my opinion, not an absolute and not to be taken as an absolute. All choices of neighborhoods in London are a matter of taste. Just like some people like vanilla ice cream and some want strawberry. I want my London flat to be close in.

Frank II, your preferences may be different to mine, but I would be uncomfortable after reading so much about violent crime in the London papers over the years visiting New Cross, Peckham, or New Cross Gate in the daytime much less at night.

The previous poster liked the area, and maybe I would if I saw it, but I doubt it.

Thanks, everyone, for your responses.

I'm fairly familiar with the different neighborhoods in and around London and have always felt comfortable in the SW7 area. It's the right mix of residents, tourists and not in the heart of the city.

As for Peckham....it's not for me.
