Requested recommendations on London apartments for six people. Received a suggestion for an apartment south of The Thames. Anyone have experience with apartments south of The Thames? Too far out from main tourist area?
As long as you're near a tube station, then south of the Thames is fine. Of course, the further south you are, the longer it will take to get into central London. In which neighborhood is the recommended apartment? Do you know the name of the nearest tube station?
I will be staying in an apartment south of the river in September. It's in the Lambeth area and not far from the river and the London Eye. Many of the reviews I read mentioned how easy it is to walk across the river to Parliament, Big Ben, etc. It's too small for you, but I would definitely consider the area.
The home owner tells me the location is between Vauxhall and Waterloo, but suggested we would probably use Vauxhall. She said about a ten minute walk to the Underground. Thanks for all the advice.
The London residents on this site are asleep now, but tomorrow can give good advice on your question.
10 minutes from the nearest Tube station is no problem when you're not hauling baggage, baggage hauling would only be an issue on arrival and departure days and can be gotten around by taking a taxi from the train station to your hotel.
Thanks to all for the input. I do not have a postal code, but it looks to be located just north of Wandsworth Road.
