London accomodations Premier Inn Victoria Station or Kensington (Earl's Court)

I believe I'm correct saying the Premier Inn hotels are OK by forum member standards.
Comments about these two locations would be appreciated. I've looked at theirs sites and don't see any thing to scare me and my wife away. I understand the differences between the 'hub' type and not. Hub not to our liking.
Looking at 7-8 nights 1st of May to middle/latter part of June 2023

Thanks

I can tell you about the Earls Court location as my regular digs in London is just down the street and has been for years. (I haven't stayed at that location but have stayed at other Premier Inns.)

It's mostly a residential area but only one block from Earls Court Station. Plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs and groceries on Earls Court Road. Very safe area but quieter compared to Victoria Station.

Easy to get into the center of town via the tube.

FrankII,
Thanks for verifying Earl's Court as quieter.
I'm trying to balance cost with ease of travel access.
The close-by tube location is a plus as are the buses.

I shall continue my research.

First time London visitors?

If yes go with Victoria. Easy stroll to Buckingham Palace and Parliament Square. 3 tube
( Underground ) lines: District, Circle and Victoria lines.

Great city. Lots to do and yes Premier Inns are a favorite of posters on this Forum. We have our reasons. Price, location, safety, are a few reasons.

I concur that the Earls Court tube station area is a nice combination of residential (though blocky) and convenient to transit, with the pluses (mostly) that come with both. No shortage of options for your morning sausage roll and newspaper, at least in the days when people still read news on paper and ate sausage rolls.

Often our go to place is the Earls Court location. Have stayed there many times. We prefer to not be in the main tourist center. But some people prefer to be closer to the main sights. Earls Court area is a bit quieter. We like to walk and often walk to Kensington Gardens. A walk in the park on arrival day always helps us feel grounded.

Carol,
I didn't know of the new PI at Paddington, but will add to my list.
I did notice that the PI Kensington Earl's Court seems to sit atop the Picadilly line.
Anyone stayed there who can comment on noise from trains?
Thanks

I'm a fan of Premier Inns when I have someone with whom to split the cost. One of the things I especially like about them is that most have air conditioning--which you don't need in London until you do. There are a few PIs without a/c, so verify on the PI website that the ones you are considering do have it.

I don’t like the Paddington area and Victoria is noisier, as it’s very central, so I would opt for Earl’s Court. Victoria is closer to the action, but to get around London, you need to use buses or tubes, so travel times even themselves out overall.

I've never heard of noise problems from the tube tracks.

If you do choose the Earls Court location....look into spending a little more for their "Plus" rooms. They are recently renovated and have a real coffeemaker and a mini-fridge.

Don't waste your money on their breakfast. For a full English, go to the Blackbird pub just one block away where it will be made fresh to order rather than the food sitting under heat lamps for who knows how long.

For just a "continental" type breakfast, head to "Paul" which you will pass walking to the hotel from the tube station. Excellent pastries and breads. (it's a French chain.) There is also a Pret a Manger for pastries and some breakfast sandwiches right next to the entrance of the tube station.

For a more "health" oriented breakfast, try "Over Under Coffee" on Hogarth Road. It is just past Paul and around the corner.

Claudia,
No, not London, but Paris, Rome, SF, DC. ATL, NYC and in my younger days many weeks astride my motorcycle in Ireland and Europe.
I appreciate all the info at Transport for London - seems every large city could take clues from from them.
Having said that I'm still looking.

We stayed at the PI at Earl's Court one night in 2019. The area around the hotel is pleasant, mainly residential, fairly quiet. The tube station is a short walk away, and there are shops and restaurants nearby. The room was basic but clean. Our room was above the train tracks, so our window view was mostly tracks. There wasn't any significant train noise. Our main complaint was that a stranger entered our room at 3 am. The person left before we could switch on the lights. We tried calling the front desk to report the incident, but no one answered. We didn't sleep much the rest of the night. We mentioned the incident when we checked out, but the person at the desk didn't show any interest in making inquiries or following up.

I agree with the posters who suggested other options for breakfast. If you don't want a full English breakfast, there's a Paul nearby where you can get coffee, pastries, etc.

We stayed at the Premier Inn Victoria hotel (near Victoria Station) in June, and it was on a very quiet street. We were on the 5th floor in a premier plus room with AC, and it was very quiet. (No strangers entering our room either - yikes Jules!!) The location was central to Buckingham Palace, Westminster, etc. There were nearby breakfast places and pubs. We would stay there again. I can't compare versus the Kensington location, as I've never stayed there.

The new PI in Paddington is open and located near the upscale Merchant Square. There’s shops and restaurants near by, as well as Paddington station. I like it because you have access to multiple different tube lines, so if one misbehaves you have options.

I live nearby so can’t speak to the hotel experience itself.
