London Accommodation recommendations for female solo travelers

I am planning on spending a long weekend in London and would appreciate hearing about places to stay for a 60ish female traveler.

Since I will only have two full days to explore the City I would prefer to stay in a central location near the main sights and within walking distance of public transportation. Boutique hotels, B&B'S are my preference. I am not looking for high end amenities, just a safe, clean and quiet place to stay. My budget per night is no more than $275 US. I will be arriving on a Friday afternoon, via train from Chipping Campden, and departing on Monday afternoon from Heathrow.

London has thousands of lodging places, I'm sure. At the very least, we need to know your hotel budget per night in GB pounds. It would also help to know what your primary sightseeing objectives are, because London is very large and on a short visit, there's no sense in spending extra time on the Underground or buses.

It would also help to know where you are coming from and going to after London. That way we could help with a location with easy access at either end.

We have seen several recommendations from solo female travelers for Hotel 63, on the north dose of Hyde Park/Bayswater Road. It is very easy to reach from Heathrow airport by the Elizabeth Line (or Heathrow Express) if that is where you are starting, and has a Tube stop very nearby, as well as a bus stop for the #148 bus.

Note that the photos on the homepage are not the immediate neighborhood of this bed and breakfast.

I've made 5 solo trips to London and have 2 favorite hotels:

First trip in 2011 and 2022 I stayed at my #1, The Baileys in South Kensington, right across the road from the Gloucester Rd tube station and near the V&A and Harrods, nice neighborhood with shops and pubs. The hotel is just lovely and the rooms and service are excellent. I used the Piccadilly line to get from and to Heathrow.

2018, 2019 and 2023 I stayed at The Caesar on Queen's Gardens in the Bayswater area, very pretty and quiet residential area and an easy walk to Paddington and also Queensway for transit options, food and shopping, close to Hyde Park. Paddington offers the Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express.

Not a boutique hotel or Band B, but I have found Premier Inns work well for me as a solo traveler. Consistent product, good locations, and affordable.

I’m a female solo traveler and I’ve stayed at Number 63 on Bayswater Road twice. I’m booked for my third stay this June. I feel very safe. The rooms are clean and the continental breakfast is very nice. It’s across the street from Kensington Gardens, Lancaster Gate tube station is a block away, and it’s a short walk to Paddington Station.

Edited: breakfast is included and it’s affordable.

We stayed a couple of times at the Premier Inn Paddington Basin--a very popular hotel chain. It's a modern high rise property and the price is right. They also have a restaurant/bar on site that's very good. It too is located just north of Hyde Park a short distance from the Bayswater/Knightsbridge area.

The Heathrow Express comes into the Paddington Train Station about 400 yards away. There are a number of fast foods in the train station and restaurants out the side door of the train station across the street.
