Where should I buy theater tickets in advance?

If you want preferred seats, you want to buy in advance. Otherwise you having to be willing to sit where available.

Buy from the theatre offering the play you want to see. Use websites like these to find the shows, then go to the theatre’s website to look for tickets on the date you want.

You can use Theatre Monkey to help pick good seats from the seat map:

I started in December to look for shows in late April, and at least one we wanted to see was already sold out on the day we wanted.

I like the TodayTix app. It’s very easy to use and they will tell you about any special prices that are available and they offer rush tickets.

Since we don’t know which play we want see beforehand or which day we plan on seeing it, we just wait until we get there to get tickets. We too use the TKTS booth at Leicester Square.
