We are in London arrive 6pm one night and leave 6pm the next. Where should we stay and where should we go to get the best for our limited time.
No one can answer this without a lot more information. When are you going? What is your budget? What are your interests?
Stay at Premier Inn Victoria or County Hall. See Parliament Square ( Westminster Abbey and Parliament ), then see the nearby Churchill War Rooms. Reservations needed for the War Rooms. Timed entry. Have lunch at the Two Chairman Pub, Then turn right out the front door of the pub, cross the street and walk down the few Cockpit steps and follow Birdcage Walk, which is adjacent to St James Park up to Buckingham Palace. ( ALWAYS cross with lights).
Take pics of the Palace and the Queen Victoria Memorial, as you head into Green Park. Stroll through Green Park and turn right on Piccadilly and head towards Piccadilly Circus. You’ll pass The Wolsley, Forum and Mason….
When you get to Piccadilly Circus from there you can head to the Trafalgar Square….
That should keep you busy for a few hours….
What is arrive? Flying into Heathrow means you’re quite far from the major tourist attractions except for Windsor Castle.
For me, my ideal day would be a museum visit, a London Walk and then theatre in the evening. But that doesn’t match up well unless you’re ready to go right at 6 PM and can leave right at 6 pm the following day.
where are you arriving? Train station? Airport? Which one?
where are you leaving from? Train station? Airport? Which one? If flying, a domestic flight or inter continental? US or elsewhere?
Then a reasonable answer for you can made.
Based on your several other threads can I guess that you will be arriving from Spain and departing to Australia? Or will it be the other way around? Or are you heading home? It depends - how far in advance you need to be at the airport, for example
We are arriving about 6 PM in Heathrow and may stay in Westminster area. Would need to leave to get to the airport for another International flight that is 6 pm the next day, end of June.
What month ?
Arrival night If staying in Westminster area can always walk across Westminster Bridge to take the iconic shot of Parliament.
There are food halls in Victoria station. Believe they are open to 10pm
Or just walk along the Thames River path. Tire yourselves out and get some sleep.
Maybe stay somewhere near LHR so you don't have to drag any bags into the city ... get a good nights rest and start very early in the morning for a quick 1/2 day trip ... the place you stay should hold your bags ... realistically, you may have only several hours in London since you'll need to get back to get your bags and be at the airport at least 2 hours ahead of your 6pm flight ... that means leaving London probably no later than 2:00pm so not much time to sightsee and have lunch ... depending on where your hotel is, storing your bags at the airport and taking the Heathrow Express into Paddington should save you an hour (maybe more) but depending on the number of bags you have, could be quite costly ... if you are more than 90 days out from your trip, Heathrow Express tickets can be purchased for £5.50, the ticket price escalates the closer you get to your travel date.
