The planned trip this fall to Italy has suddenly been changed to southern England, and we’re thinking about staying for three nights in Salisbury. Unfortunately, what seemed like the perfect B&B that’s recommended in Rick’s England guidebook has now shut down. The other recommendations are either located too far out, don’t sound like a comfortable atmosphere, or are really expensive. Does anybody have a recommendation for an affordable (substantially less than £150/night) place that’s close to the center of town, the Cathedral, and/or the train station?
I tried Online to book nights at the Cathedral View B&B, but got an error message. Looking at Rick’s Website for Updates to his England guidebook, it says the B&B is now closed. :-(
The Cricket Field House and two Premier Inns are some distance outside of town; dorms at Sarum College or a room above the King’s Head Inn Wetherspoon’s pub just don’t sound like ideal settings; and while The Chapter House sounds lovely, it’s rather expensive.
Any suggestions for a suitable alternative in Salisbury to the places I (and Rick) have mentioned? Thank you!
