My husband and I would like lodging recommendations for the middle of May 2017 for London with a day trip to Greenwich. Do you have any recent advice. We do like the smaller lodgings but good quality. We have 5 nights in London.
Thank you.
I would say middle range to middle high? Not top dollar but I do not know what an average small hotel price would be.
We require two twin beds and would like a bathroom in the room with a shower. Not small since we are traveling with luggage from a barge trip in France.
A small fridge in the room if possible but a buffet breakfast would be wonderful.
What are the price ranges?
Our friends recommended the Luna and Simone after staying there, so we have booked it. We will also be there in May. When I read about a 10% Rick Steves discount, I emailed the hotel and they amended our reservation. Breakfast is included. Our friends were happy enough, and reviews I have read are OK for me. Good luck.
Number Sixty-Three is across the road from Hyde Park /KensingtonnGarden. They have six twin-bedded ensuite rooms priced at £130. The photo shows a walk-in shower, not a tub/shower combo, but you could contact them to confirm that. A substantial breakfast is included.
My caveat would be that the room may not be very large. If you need more space, maybe book the family room?
With regard to hotel prices, I am not sure what the range of "middle to middle high" means in dollars or in pounds, but have a look at the Lancaster Hotel, on Lancaster Terrace close to Hyde Park. For me and my wallet it is middle high but others may find it middle middle. At any rate, it is a fine hotel and I bring it to your attention.
My husband and I have stayed at the Crowne Plaza, Cromwell, (IHG Hotel Group such as Holiday Inn, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, etc.) South Kensington (three visits for up to two weeks each); the Doubletree (Hilton property) in Westminiater (for 10 days); last August for 23 days at the Conrad St. James Hilton, St James Park. All three hotels were lovely. The Crowne Plaza was across the street from the Gloucester Tube. The Doubletree was within walking distances of Big Ben, Parliament etc.. The Conrad was across the street from the St. James Park Tube and very short walking distances to Buckingham Palace, Big B, Parliament, etc.
