Any recommendations for hotels near Heathrow where we could stay a night before catching an early flight the next morning? Nothing fancy needed, just practical, relatively modestly priced and not icky. FYI I'd posted couple days ago about traveling in one day this spring from Cornwall to Brussels by rail. We've opted to dial back potential missed-connections drama by taking train to Heathrow one day, flying to Brussels the next. Thanks again - Alan from Arlington VA
Why not take the train to London on day one, and then get the Eurostar the next day?
But if you still want to fly, what airline are you taking to Brussels? By knowing what terminal, we can recommend close hotels.
Holiday Inn express Terminal 4,
Premier Inn Terminal 4
Splurge Hotel: Sofitel Terminal 5 (also direct via walkway to terminal 5)
These are accessed directly from a pedestrian walkway in Terminal 4. You can access the other terminals for free by tube or Heathrow Exoress.
Thanks and that's a good suggestion, Frank II, but we've already committed to flying to Brussels. We'll be on British Airways, leaving from Terminal 5.
I'm also confused. The train from Cornwall goes into Paddington station in London, it will take as long to get to Heathrow as to get to St Pancras International for the Eurostar.
Then the Eurostar takes only 1 hour and 53 minutes.
I don't know why you chose to fly?
OK, folks. Our minds are open. Any recommendations for modestly priced hotels near St. Pancras Station? Thanks again - Alan
There are 3 Premier Inns very close. They are imaginatively called Euston, St Pancras and King’s Cross after the 3 stations close by. Any of them is a short walk to St Pancras.
I stayed at the Premier Inn St Pancras in September before taking the Eurostar. The hotel was very clean and quiet. It is across the street from the British Library.
I’d definitely choose the Eurostar to Brussels over a flight out of Heathrow.
As usual, you've all been helpful and persuasive. We've switched our plans and will take EuroStar to Brussels.
Stayed at Premier Inn St Pancras last April. Clean quiet, and if you have even a few minutes the British Library is literally across the street and free. Treasures of British Library exhibit is great.

Good move. There are many hotels near St. Pancras of all classes. You shouldn't have a problem finding one to fit your waller. Do remember to be in line 90 minutes prior to your train's departure. You will do all passport controls both UK and Schengen at St. Pancras.
I've stayed at the Premier Inn St. Pancras twice. Quiet, clean, a five minute walk to the Eurostar.
Just remember Eurostar suggests checking in 90 minutes before departure. You will go through security and passport control for Schengen in London. That means when you get to Brussels, you just walk off the train and get on your way.
