We are planning to fly into LHR, take somekind of public trans. to some lodging in London, tour for several days, and then take Chunnel train (EuroStar?) to Paris to meet up with tour group. I'm looking for moderate lodging recommendations in London that would be easy to get to from LHR and have easy access to St. Pancras? station. What would you suggest?
Take the tube from LHR to the Kings Cross/St Pancras area; it takes an hour and is without changes. There are many hotels in the area of these two train stations. You will be able to walk to the Eurostar train station from many of the hotels. I have stayed at the Crestfield a few times. Just google "hotels near kings cross" and start shopping. Buses and Tube connections are available at the stations for touring London.
In the St Pancras/Kings Cross/Euston train station neighborhood I like two hotels:
Ibis Euston Hotel and Premier Inn London Euston. Both are easy walking distance to St Pancras for your Chunnel train to Paris, and most all the tube lines pass through these stations for easy access to all corners of London during your sightseeing.
