Thanks for the info. I have my new ticket and seat reservation for Friday afternoon, York to Edinburgh.

Since I had also purchased a ticket for Saturday, I’m going to try to get a new ticket/seat reservation for the 6:35 train on Saturday. I’m hoping that train will be less crowded, and I wouldn’t mind an extra day in York.

Update: just wanted to say thanks again for all the help navigating the train strikes. I am currently on the 6:35 from York to Edinburg. Train car all to myself. No hot breakfast service because of the strike. But I am more than happy with my tea and biscuits.

I’ve had the LNER motto in my head all week—see it, say it, sorted. Very catchy. 😀

That's a security announcement across the rail system, not unique to LNER.
Pleased it's all going well.
I'm now in Carlisle awaiting my strike day train, having successfully navigated a bus diversion through major roadworks to get here, and am hoping my train to Preston is as quiet as yours.
I've managed to do some research into some less well known letters of William Wordsworth in Carlisle while waiting, which I wouldn't have had time to do normally.
There is an RMT picket line at Carlisle, and a full Avanti rail replacement bus service from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
With one train every 2 hours and 3 through platforms to choose from, somehow there has been a platform alteration.
So far, in spite of what should now be a 4 hour delay, this is turning into a bit of a success story. Roll with the punches and sometimes you get a result.
