We will be in Liverpool heading to London for our last 3 days of travel in September. What are good train options for direct travel to London? We want to stay near the V and A museum for 2 nights with a budget friendly hotel. On our last full day we will travel to Windsor to see the area. What train route would you recommend from London to Windsor? We will then taxi to Heathrow to catch our plane home. We've learned so much from this site. Thank you for your help.

You can get trains from Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston direct departing hourly at 43 min after the hour on Avanti West Coast. The journey is about 2 hours 20 minutes.

Avanti are the only direct operator. Any other option will involve a change somewhere (various options available), and thus be significantly slower. The best fares on Avanti are in the early afternoon when they are as low as £25 Advance Fare, before railcard discounts.

Most people go to Windsor from Paddington station - change at Slough for the branch line to Windsor.
Pay on the day. PAD > WNC (Windsor & Eton Central).
