Liverpool, Beatles fans

Hello
My husband and I are flying over to Liverpool from Dublin for a day trip to visit Beatles sights with Magical Mystery tour. I am looking for a quiet B&B to stay overnight. One recommendation on line was Restored Victoria House B&B. We would appreciate any advice as we have not been to Liverpool before. Is Magical Mystery tour a good choice for Beatles fans? Also is Liverpool Beatles Museum a good choice to see.
Thank you in advance Mark and Val Beatle fans!

I recommend hiring a private Beatles tour guide. I had a great person who took me everywhere I wanted to go, and I could spend as much or as little time as I wanted exploring each site. The Magical Mystery Tour covers a lot of ground but doesn't actually stop and let you explore at every site.

Also, Mendips (John's childhood home) and 20 Forthlin Road (Paul's childhood home) are managed by the National Trust. You must sign up for their tour to visit the homes. Visiting those homes was very moving. And I remember that when I walked out of Mendips, running my hands over the flowers planted by Aunt Mimi, the people in the Magical Mystery Tour bus were looking at me enviously. They weren't even allowed off the bus to take photos!

I enjoyed the Beatles museums. There are two.

Enjoy your trip!

What's the difference between the two? Which did you like better? If we can only visit one, which one would you recommend?

The National Trust tour of the Beatles Childhood homes was the real highlight for me. You need to book the childhood homes tour in advance. I took the tour that started from Liverpool South Parkway and took the bus from Liverpool to that station. It is a small group tour and I thought it was just outstanding. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/liverpool-lancashire/the-beatles-childhood-homes. This might be tough to do if you are flying over for a day as they only do a couple tours a day.

The Magical Mystery tour is a big bus tour and super touristy. There are lots of 5 minute photo stops where everyone gets off the bus to take a selfie in front of various Beatles sites. You see the outside of the Beatles homes and places referenced in songs like Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane. You also get admission to the Cavern Club. It was fine as a way to see some of the places, but I think you’d get more out of a private tour.

I went to The Beatles Story rather than the Beatles Museum. I found it very interesting. I didn’t have time for both.

The Beatles Story Museum on Albert Dock tries to tell the story of the band. It has fewer pieces of memorabilia than the other, I think, but it has John's white piano, which was important to me.

The Liverpool Beatles Museum has lots of memorabilia (guitars, clothes) and I guess is more of a traditional museum. It's on Matthew Street near the site of the Cavern, and closer to the city centre. If you only have time for one, this one might be the most convenient to visit.

Both gave me a holy cr*p!" moment when I absorbed the significance of actual MUSEUMS built for the Beatles. I got teased a bit for being a Beatles fan when I was growing up, so it was wonderful to bask in their glory!
