Liverpool accommodations/areas help ;)

Hello again.

Thanks to all of the help I have received thus far I am almost finished booking for our September trip. I have seen a few suggestions for Premier Inn in Liverpool and there are a few locations in Liverpool. It isn’t fancy but our Canadian dollar compared to British currency is dictating a more “budget” friendly option.

My biggest question is what area of Liverpool is safe to walk to sites and train stations. We are dropping a car off at the Liverpool (John Lennon) airport and taking a train to Liverpool. I believe we will arrive at the Moorsfields station and staying 2 nights. We depart Liverpool by train and I am still researching but believe it will be via the Lime Street Station. In your opinion is it better to stay closer to one station or another?

We are able walkers so the distance isn’t a huge deal however we want to be in a safe area. We plan on taking some tours as well as doing a lot of walking. Evening pubs or restaurants close to our accommodation is a bonus as well.

If anyone has any suggestions as to places or areas to stay I welcome your advice.

Thanks so much for your time, I truly appreciate hearing from you all….feels better than just depending on the reviews on booking.com etc.

Cheers,

KS

We've stayed at both the Premier Inn at Albert Dock AND the one by Lime Street Station. I found Albert Dock to be more atmospheric. The area around the one near Lime Street was more lively but I never felt unsafe. Perhaps more going on around there in the evening. You can't go wrong with either.

The big questions are - how much time do you have in the city after dropping the car and what time next day do you leave from Lime Street for London or wherever you are going?
If you've dropped the car at the airport then the sensible train route from Liverpool South Parkway brings you into Lime Street (not Moorfields). If you catch the Airport Express bus it brings you to Albert Dock.
Many places to eat at the Dock.
Albert Dock is very worth a visit and you would catch a Merseyrail train to Lime Street Low Level next morning 2 stops from James Street (very frequent service)- escalators and lifts up from Lime Street Low Level to High Level (main line).
Any ticket from Liverpool should include the train from James Street (even Advance ones) as they should read 'Liverpool stations' as the origin point.
My own suggestion would be bus Airport to Liverpool One Bus Station (for Albert Dock), drop bags at hotel, visit and stay at the Dock.
Then as above to Lime Street.
While at the Dock, or even as you transfer to James Street, you must see the Three Graces at Pier Head (the Royal Liver, the Cunard and the Port of Liverpool buildings).
Are you doing or are you interested in doing a Beatles tour while in the City.

I’ve stayed at the Liverpool City Centre Liverpool One Premier Inn on Hanover Street and loved the location. Very handy for the shops and restaurants of the Liverpool One development, about equal distance between Lime Street station and Albert Docks. Also an easy walk to the Cavern in one direction and the cathedrals in the other. Pretty much in the dead centre of anything you’d want to see, and feels safe too - it’s a busy street of hotels and shops and restaurants.

The location is called Moorfields, not Moorsfields.
