Hi Friends,
Where are some great places to hear music in York or Bristol. I am thinking like a pub or something, but I am open. Any other night life suggestions would get great. Maybe not the trendiest spot, but something fun for the older adults.

In York the Black Swan on Peasholme Green may be your best bet. The Hop on Fossegate also has live music and is a louder livelier venue. Both have websites to check for who is playing and when.
I don't know York or Bristol from experience at all, but your thread reminded me of this article I read the other day. I was aware of the name because it was a nationally known club venue years ago, but I didn't know the really interesting backstory about it being connected with Vivian Stanshall.
The Thekla, Bristol -

The Thekla is a fantastic venue and has music most nights but it’s quite a full on noisy place, not somewhere to sit and have a drink and watch something in the corner of the room.
I don’t know what you enjoy nightlife wise but if the weather is decent King Street has loads of bars with outside seating including the Apple, a dedicated cider pub on a boat.
For cocktails, Milkthistle is a very cool doorbell bar. Book in advance and ring the bell at the unmarked premises to be let inside.
