Little Venice is just down the canal from Camden (both in the same borough) but more different they could not be. I like it very much both in the Little Venice and Maida Vale areas (and of course the Abbey Road zebra crossing is just down the street).

I have friends who used to live in Little Venice. I liked their house.

The canal has a towpath along most of its length.

We love the walk along the Regents's Canal towpath past Little Venice and to Camden Market. We start at Paddington station; go around the east side and you will find the canal and path. Be sure a stop at the little bookstore on a boat. Part of the way through Little Venice you are along the street as the towpath itself is private for the houseboat owners-- although I feel like two years ago we walked that section as well.

I love Little Venice, and have been there several times. It is a very nice area to explore. There are many narrowboats parked there on which people live full time. Some of the boats have beautiful color schemes. Most have a back deck or porch with pots of flowers and deck chairs where you may see the owners relaxing with a glass of wine and their dogs.

A lovely neighborhood to explore. Many good cafes along the canal, and pubs in the neighborhood.

I recommend the Waterside Cafe, on the south side of Little Venice, on Warwick Crescent Rd., for coffee, tea, sandwiches and cake. It is a floating boat parked on the edge of the water.

One of my favorite pubs is a block away from the canal. Walk west on Blomfield Road, turn north on Warwick Place, look for The Warwick Castle Pub at 6 Warwick Place. Great food, great fish and chips and selection of beers. www.warwickcastlemaidavale.com

For a more substantial meal, good seafood, steaks and salads, keep on the north side of the canal, and walk west up Blomfield Road until you come to 60 Blomfield Rd, The Summerhouse. www.thesummerhouse.co

For more upscale dining, keep walking west to The Waterway Cafe, at 54 Formosa St., also with a canal view.

You can ride to Little Venice from Camden Lock on a narrowboat, with the London Waterbus Company.

Or you can catch the waterbus at Little Venice and travel east to Camden Lock and Camden Market.

Or you can walk the canal path, as others have mentioned.
If you want to go directly to Little Venice, the closest tube station is Warwick Avenue Station; reached by using the Bakerloo tube line.

If you are thinking of going to the London Zoo during your visit, afterwards you can pick up the canalside path behind the zoo, and walk west to Little Venice.

Little Venice is one of my favorite places in London. The London Walks Company does a guided walk along the canal path to Little Venice. Have a look at their website here:www.walks.com

I second the London Walks tour. We really enjoyed it and our tour guide was great, his knowledge of the area was great and answered all questions posed. The walk lasted approximately 2 hours and when it ended, he was able to offer several suggestions as to where one might like to go for some lunch.

I quite enjoyed it there. It felt so different from the other areas I'd seen in London. We had a nice lunch and then took a boat trip on the canal. It made for a relaxing few hours.

In answer to the original posters inquiry, yes it is a nice area to explore. As others have posted you can easily stroll along the Regent's canal. Do a Google Maps Satellite view and you will see how far the canal meanders.

I love Camden Lock market. Find it intriguing and when I travel in November a good spot to buy small stocking trinkets for Xmas.

Have no clue if still there but in 2014 there was the sweetest small cafe in St Mark's church. If walking from Camden Lock it's across from the Feng Shang floating red Pagoda restaurant.

Hi Kristen ... we are staying at the Celtic Hotel, in the Bloomsbury neighborhood - I have never been there, but friends have stayed there and say it is a wonderful, quiet area, walkable to pubs, bookstores, Russell Square, tube stops....

Kirsten, Little Venice is a residential area. There are not lots of hotels in the area; primarily townhouses, and I have never seen any apartments for rent there.

A better area for you might be along Bayswater Road, between Paddington Station and Hyde Park. Hyde Park for walks, and Bayswater Road for bus and tube transportation, plus restaurants, grocery stores and pubs.

I have posted some names of hotels in the Bayswater area on your thread/question you have posted.

regicar, you have chosen a great neighborhood. I love Bloomsbury, and it is convenient especially for the British Museum. Russell Square provides a nice leafy, green area for relaxing. Good transportation all around Bloomsbury; buses, tube stations.
