Can anyone suggest transportation to The Strand Palace Hotel from London Heathrow Airport?

The least expensive option would be to take the tube (Piccadilly line) to Covent Garden station. From there it is about a 5 to 10 minute walk to your hotel. This will take about an hour.

Do I have to pre buy the ticket, or can I do it from the airport? Where is the train station located and is there a particular line?

Just follow the signs at the airport to the Underground (aka ”tube”). You can use a contactless credit card to pay; you tap when you enter the station and again when you exit at Covent Garden. The line is the ”Piccadilly” line; it is the only underground line that serves Heathrow.
