LHR to Premier Inn Waterloo

I am considering a car service or the tube. Does the tube go from LHR to a stop near my hotel? Thanks in advance for all of your help.

You can pop in your details on the TFL’s trip planner. When I tried it for this Monday at 10am it suggested taking the Elizabeth line to Tottenham Court road and transfer to the northern line to Waterloo. Do be aware that sometimes the planner will suggest using the heathrow express just to save a few minutes. The express is an expensive option if you don’t have discounted tickets.

If you want to take the tube rather than the Elizabeth Line you could take the Piccadilly line and switch at one of three locations-
1. Green Park to the Jubilee;
2. Piccadilly Circus to the Bakerloo;
3. Leicester Square to the Northern

The post above shows one reason why I love this hotel. There are so many convenient transportation options. Choose just one of the three choices above.

The quickest route is the Elizabeth line to TCR & Northern Line. Travel in the front cars for the interchange. There are though a few stairs to negotiate. Changing at Bond Street to the Jubilee is a bit slower but without any fixed stairs

The quickest non Elizabeth line route is Piccadilly to Hammersmith, then District to Westminster and a 15 minute or so walk over the bridge. Not so good if raining though.

Indeed it is but the quickest tube journey is via Westminster at the expense of the extra few minutes walk. All the options involving changes to lines to Waterloo eat up more time by the distance being longer and the connection itself not being a simple cross platform one. Of course there may be reasons to minimise the walk instead, so there is no definitive right answer, only options.

Marco, ordinarily I don't mind a bit of a trek but when I have luggage to maneuver (even packing light), I will almost always opt for the shorter amount of walking. :)

The other option is to do a 2nd switch at Westminster onto the Jubilee line 1 stop, or just hop on any bus at Westminster Stop H over the bridge one stop.

Like most London journeys there are a multiplicity of options, none definitively correct.

The easiest but longest (in time terms) route, which drops you almost right outside, is Picc to Hammersmith then the 211 bus from Hammersmith. The bus ride is scheduled as 63 minutes in the daytime, but as low as 32 minutes in the early morning or late night. The 211 runs on a 10 minute frequency.

  1. Green Park to the Jubilee;

If doing that, and thanks to our former and much missed regular emma, note that it is much easier and faster to ignore the signs as you get off directing you to the Jubilee Line, but rather follow the Way Out signs up to the ticket hall area (don't go through the gateline though) and then back down to the Jubilee Line.

Truth be told I'd much rather arrive at Waterloo on the Northern Line than the Jubilee as the way out of the Jubilee Line is a bit around the houses.

Several recent posts discussed using London public transport. The Transport for London website, government-approved, is often helpful in planning routes to destinations in the city, Google Maps runs a similar service although with less info on pricing.

The Transport for London website, government-approved

As in the United States the government of the United Kingdom does not "approve" websites. This Country is not China or some Communist country.

But TfL will always be the best and most up to date website, as they are the operator and they always update in real time. That is what causes problems, people who rely on Google or some other third party.

And that will lead to suggested re-routes if there is a significant delay.

TfL are wholly independent of the government.
