LHR airport

Hello! I have booked connecting flights but on 2 separate tickets, and the connection is very tight so would like to check if I need to go through passport control / immigration and if I can stay airside. Any other advice on making the connection will help too!

1) Flying from Singapore to LHR on SQ, arriving LHR T2 at 15:45
2) Flying from LHR to Oslo on SAS, departing LHR T2 at 17:30
3) Bought on separate tickets (2 bookings) but SQ said can check my bag to Oslo
4) Can I stay airside in Flight connections area? Seem to have conflicting info - one source said LHR checks and only allows people on same ticket
5) Will I need to go through passport control? Security?

Considering that Singapore Airlines and SAS are two difference alliances, and its on separate tickets, I don't see how they will transfer your bags.

At LHR, you will more than likely have to go through Immigration, collect your bags, pass through customs, re-check in your bag, and then go through security. (You would have to go through security either way.) Luckily, you don't have to change terminals.

If your arriving flight is on time, it's going to be tight.

Singapore and SAS used to have an interline agreement when they were both memebers of the Star Alliance. But about a year ago, SAS switched to Sky Team. No new mention if the interline agreement continued and if so, it was on a combined ticket.

Singapore and SAS still have a bilateral partnership as detailed here. This could terminate at some time because of the now differing major alliances but it took Singapore two years for example to bring to an end one with Virgin Atlantic.

Singapore also has one of the most liberal policies for through checking bags on separate tickets. If it complies with the minimum connection time it is allowable.

Heathrow has allowed airside transfers on separate tickets for a long time in practice but this is against their stated policy so this could change at no notice.

You may still need to buy a UK ETA as it may appear that is your final destination.

So there are a few risky areas that you have to be aware of & be happy with.

SQ308 (your flight) is also a codeshare with SAS- SK8038- if it was one ticket that is a valid connection, so maybe as it is a code share bags would be transferred on two tickets.
But be aware that, although, the flight has a good record of being close to time (today it is currently 25 minutes early) on Sunday (2 days ago) it didn't arrive until 1833 so that was a truly missed connection.

When you check in at Singapore, ask if they can check your bag through to Oslo. If the bag tag they put on says OSL they were able to do so.

If they can check it through, all you will have to do is go through security at T2. No passport control or customs.

I think you should consider trying to change one of your flights to give you more time to transfer, considering the catastrophic results with the second flight. You might lose your flight, unless you booked an expensive option.

Having to pick up your luggage (unless you don't plan to check luggage), you will likely have to wait at least 30 minutes to get your luggage, then transport to the other terminal and go through security all over again.

Can you check in advance what terminals both flights will land and/or takeoff.
