Leaving in two weeks! HELP!

We will be flying into Heathrow and staying in Fulham for 3 days. Any thoughts about that area? We're going to see the ABBA VOYAGE, a highlight for my husband.
Then, we need a new place to stay in a more Central area. before we leave for Chester, UK.

Thanks to everyone from your traveling pal,
Judy Z

Whereabouts in Fulham? The historic location near the river? Walham Green? Parsons Green? Sand's End? Makes a bit of difference what might be in the immediate doorstep.

However, two different experiences come to mind whatever the location. Firstly Fulham Palace, the historic home of the Bishops of London. Secondly North End Road, with its non-tourist market, bars, and restaurants. An "all human life is here" kind of place.

Is there a particular reason for staying in Fulham? A nice enough area but as you say not central and a long way from the ABBA Voyage theatre in Stratford.

Agree with Marco on the Bishop’s palace (it’s amazing) and North End Road, which we love for food shopping and people watching. Just before the Fulham Broadway bus stop at the end of North End Road is The Cock Tavern, which is a friendly local non-touristy joint.

We have not been yet, but Fulham Pier has been advertising a lot and looks like fun: food, market stall stuff, etc: https://www.fulhampier.com/

Stamford Bridge Stadium, home of Chelsea FC, is a draw for football fans, and just a 2 minute walk from the Fulham Broadway tube stop. There are tours, if you are into it.

And you’ll be a short bus ride from Kensington, South Kensington, etc., for more upscale/trendy stuff, museums… depending on exact location in Fulham it’s quite easily commutable.

When you say more central area do you mean in London, or more central in the UK?

Staying at a very nice condo for a reasonable price!

Thanks for the info about Fulham!

Judy, My family stayed in Fulham on our recent trip. We thought it was a nice area, lots of good places to eat. It's not central to a lot of the big sights, but easy enough to get anywhere on the Tube.

From Fulham probably the easiest way is an eastbound train to Bow Road, come out of the station and walk maybe 200 yards down the road to Bow Church DLR station, then one stop towards Stratford, getting off at the adjacent Pudding Mill Lane station.
This is what is called an out of station interchange meaning that it counts as one through journey, but remember to swipe on at Bow Church and off at Pudding Mill Lane.
