We would love any specific suggestions for areas to stay while our family is visiting London. We know this might mean commuting into London.
Ideally it would have tree lined streets with a park nearby.
I had seen St. Albans mentioned on this forum but when I looked for airbnbs there they were all in high rise buildings or being hosted by someone who is a rental manager for many properties and who got some poor reviews.
Anyway we would love some more ideas of where to stay while visiting London that is close but quiet and green.
It was over 20 years ago but I stayed in Bloomsbury on my two trips to London. It was a beautiful residential area with lots of trees and parks, and some gorgeous townhouses. It was close to public transport, from what I can recall, and the British Museum is in the area. I really loved staying there.
Richmond too far? Nice area though.
Holland Park in Kensington is exactly what you described. There is a convenient “ Holland Park” tube station as well.
Richmond is 25 minutes on the tube to central London. Stayed there twice since 2019. Richmond Park is massive. Great to walk in. Richmond High Street very nice.
You should also investigate these neighborhoods: Hampstead, Highgate, St Johns Woods, Marylebone, and Primrose Hill
Or just investigate if 63 Bayswater has availability. If so, stay there. Then you can walk out the front door, cross the road and walk into Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens via Lancaster Gate.
There are ample choices. You may want to choose a station where contactless is accepted.
