Novice traveler here. Does anyone have experience with the lenght of time needed between a flight arriving from U.S. to Heathrow for connecting with a flight to Inverness?? Thanks for your input.
We need some more information to provide the proper response.
- US passport?
- Both flights purchased as a single ticket? Or purchased separately?
- If separate tickets will you have checked bags or carry on only?
Heathrow has a connection tool to walk you through what to expect.
Yes, I have a U.S passport; ticket will be round trip, either British Airways or American Airlines. No checked luggage, just a carryon. 😉
Thank you Rocket. I'll check out the link you provided.
American Airlines doesn't fly between London and Inverness. It will be a British Airways codehsare. That could mean if you fly American to London and then BA to Inverness, you might have to change terminals which adds time.
Use the flight connections tool to give you an estimate. The key to remember here is to follow the "Flight Connections" signs rather than the hoard of people going to the regualr immigration area.
Also be aware that if for some reason you miss your connection, since it is on one ticket, they will get you on the next available flight.
Thank you Frank. I truly appreciate your help. Haven't booked yet but want to be prepared with as much info as I can gather to try to avoid messing things up because I had no clue what to look for. 🥺
just be sure it is all on one ticket. joining 2 trips on your own is when you get into trouble
Great advice Nigel. I'm definitely planning for 1 ticket. That also seems to provide much better pricing. 😉
You will still be able to book the flight on the AA website if you want. You just need to make sure that the actual US to LHR flight is on BA metal to avoid having to change terminals. It;'s worth checking on both the AA and the BA website as pricing might be different.
Thank you John. All of this great info is so helpful!! 👌
