Layover and Trip to Windsor

I have an 7 1/2 hour layover arriving at Heathrow at 1:20 in the afternoon and leaving at 9:00 pm that evening.

Was thinking that a trip to central London may not be feasible and thinking instead of heading to Windsor. Would be accompanied by my wife and 4 children ages 22 down to 13.

Any suggestions on things to see and any particular tours of Windsor Castle that we should focus on. Places to eat, hang out, favorite sites, etc.?

I appreciate any suggestions people may have on how to spend 3-4 hours in Windsor.

I'm also assuming travel there is best by Taxi or Uber?

Best,

Paul

Unless you are flying First or Business Class, expect an hour for passport control at LHR.

Allowing for getting out of the airport and getting back in, you have probably 3.5 to 4.5 hours maximum, depending on where you are departing to. Windsor will be 30 minutes each way minimum plus wait time for services. Say 1.5 -2 hours of travel and wait time.

Will you have bags with you that you need to spend time at left luggage? Another 20 minutes.

It doesn't make for a relaxed trip to Windsor as you will be clock watching. That's if your flight is on time!
