Lancaster Gate Hotel--Recent visitors?

Planing a 1st trip to London.

The hotel seems to have good reviews, but what I can find here are from 4-5 years ago.

Hoping for something more recent.

General comments about the area, restaurants etc., also welcome.

Thank you

I live v nearby so can’t comment on the hotel as I’ve never stayed there, but the location is v good. You’re right on the north side of Hyde Park, with very easy access if you want to go for a walk or run.

The area is more residential than party central; Queensway is nearby for shops and restaurants.

You’re a 10 minute walk to Kensington Palace; 20 minute walk over the park to the South Ken museums, and 20 minutes to Marble Arch/Oxford Street. You're also nicely positioned to useful bus routes and the Central line tube.

Haven’t stayed there. My preferred accommodation in that area is close by though.

Area is fine. 15 minute stroll from Paddington station. Short distance to the Lancaster Gate entrance into Hyde Park and the Italian Gardens. Path along the Serpentine up to the Lido and the Princess Diana Memorial Garden. However you can enter the park closer to the hotel. Go left inside the gates into Hyde Park, go right to Kensington gardens and Kensington Palace. If you walk across the park you’ll wind up
at the Prince Albert Memorial and Royal Albert Hall.

For restaurants: Close is Tudkin Flavors of Malaysia. Excellent food. Reservations required.

Lastly walk over to Queensway. Countless cafes and restaurants.

Good public transport options nearby. Queensway Bayswater Stations. Lancaster Gate Station.

As far as good pubs. The Mitre Paddington, Leinster Arms….and bit of a stroll (15 minutes) on Strathearn Place the lovely and friendly Victoria Paddington.

If you got a good rate, go for it.
