Can someone recommend a tour guide from Manchester to take us on a tour of the lakes region?
We’ll be there the end of October .

Do you mean the Lake District?
If so, I would say the tours running from Manchester are going to be thin on the ground as it it quite a schelp. You would be better advised getting to Carlisle or perhaps Kendal or Barrow or somewhere similiar.
