My wife and I are planning a trip first to the Lake district and then down into the Cotswold area. Is it hard to travel between these two areas? Wold a bus be better then a train...How often do they run?
There is only one bus a day- departs Penrith at 1150, arrive Oxford at 2105 after a change at Milton Keynes Coachway then you still have to get a late train from Moreton in Marsh.
There is a train from Penrith to Birmingham New Street, almost every hour, change there for Oxford (half hourly) or Worcestershire Parkway (hourly), change again for Oxford. £90 Flexible Off Peak Single.
Journey time 4:30 to 5:00
But if you book this as split tickets Penrith to Birmingham, Birmingham to Moreton OR Birmingham to Worcester Parkway, WP to Moreton (the cheaper route) you can get that down to £50 or less.
