Lake District & Daffodils

When is the best time to visit the Lake District to see the Daffodils in full bloom? I know you can't be exact but generally speaking. (example: would it be the 2nd week of May)

That's a pretty difficult question to answer as Spring comes in the UK at unpredictable times. Very generally though daffies are early Spring flowers and in most years that means they are at their best between late March and early April in the south and can be anything between 2 & 4 weeks later in the north. If you aimed for mid April you would probably have the best chance of seeing good ones, but you could just as easily be too early or too late!

And this is one of the things that my grandmother who was born and raised near Penrith missed so much when we moved to outside Chicago--no daffodils in March, none in April, and if you're lucky you get them in May.... :( She also missed roses, which don't flourish in Illinois easily the way that they do in the UK or for that matter on the East coast of the US. The winters are just too darn hard.

I would love to be in Cumbria when the daffodils were blooming.
