Lake District activities for 13 yo daughters

We're looking at going to the Lake District this summer for a few days away from London. Both my husband and I are excited to see the beautiful countryside, and the girls will enjoy that a bit. What activities would you recommend in that area (Beatrix Potter won't be a very big draw for them)? I've seen horseback riding and boating, but it's hard to determine the quality of the facilities on the websites. Thanks!

Via ferrata at Honister.
Go Ape at Grisedale.
A google of Ghyll scambling might bring something up.

The drive over Wrynose and Hartknott.
Close to southern Lakes, Morecombe Bay walk.

If they're over Beatrix Potter, you might see if they're interested in Arthur Ransome. Although we had good weather for our entire visit, the Lake District is famous (in England!) for rain, so be prepared with gear and alternate activities. We rented an extremely old cottage, with mildew on the walls. (Not complaining, just reporting.)

The obvious activity in the Lake District is fell walking. Castle Crag is a pretty easy hike. For something just a little more challenging you might consider Catbells just across the lake from Keswick. But as someone else said, make sure that you and your family have good boots and rain gear -- the weather can change quickly.

Are your daughters into poetry? If so, they might enjoy visiting Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount which were former homes of Lake poet William Wordsworth.

Your family could also visit the Honister Slate Mine and the Castlerigg stone circle.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We decided to take a day tour that will cover Wordsworth , Castlerigg stone circle, Kirkstone Pass, and several other places. It should be really nice (small group -- 8 total) We're hoping for great weather!! We'll have time for paddle boarding as well!
